Instructions:

Please complete the application if you are interested in filling a vacant seat on the City Council. Be sure to meet all eligibility requirements and submit the application and the required petition as outlined below.

Eligibility Requirements:

Residency: Must have resided within the City for a minimum of one year before the date of election. If applying for a Ward-specific seat, residency within that Ward is required.
Voter Registration: Must be a registered voter in the City (and specific Ward, if applicable). 
Criminal Record: You have never been convicted of a felony.

Application Requirements:

1. Petition: Submit a petition signed by at least 25 registered voters who are eligible to vote for the vacant position. 
All residents must live in Ward 3 to be eligible to sign this vacancy petition. 

2. Submission Deadline: Petition must be submitted within 15 days of the vacancy declaration date. 
Declared Vacant:  January 14, 2025
Petitions Due: January 29, 2025, 5:00pm

3. Petition Sufficiency: The City Clerk will review and confirm the petition’s sufficiency. If deemed insufficient, you may amend and re-file within 48 hours.

4. City Council Vacancy Application: Information to confirm requirements per City Charter along with a statement of intent and community impact.
