Independence Day with fireworks


FORT CARSON, Colo. – Fort Carson and the 4th Infantry Division will host its Independence Day Fireworks Celebration at 9:20 p.m. tentatively on July 4 at Iron Horse Park.

 The event is only open to Department of Defense ID cardholders and their guests.

Parking is located off of Wetzel Avenue across from the William “Bill” Reed Special Events Center and off of Sheridan Avenue at Iron Horse Park. Parking lots will not be available until 8 p.m.

Patrons are required to stay in the proximity of their vehicle (tailgate, truck bed, etc.).  If they choose to exit their vehicle to view fireworks they will be limited to the immediate area on the driver’s side of the vehicle to maintain social distancing with other surrounding vehicles. The use of alcohol, firearms, and festival-style seating is prohibited.

Pets (with the exception of American Disability Act service animals) are not allowed.

No personal fireworks are allowed in any area at Fort Carson.

Weapons will not be allowed at the event site with the exception of authorized law enforcement officials. County, state and federal civilian concealed carry permits are not recognized or valid at Fort Carson.

Despite the Colorado amendment legalizing recreational marijuana, wrongful use or possession of marijuana on a federal installation is a violation of federal law. Federal law continues to prohibit the use of marijuana anywhere on post.

All personnel entering Fort Carson must be in possession of a valid state or federally-issued photo ID from a REAL ID Act compliant state. If using an ID from a state or territory that is not REAL ID Act compliant, then an approved secondary form of ID is required. More information on the REAL ID Act can be found at https://www.dhs.gov/real-id. States that have filed for an extension include: Kentucky, Maine, New Jersey, Oklahoma and Oregon.     

All personnel must park in designated parking areas. Parking in prohibited areas will result in a citation and the vehicle will be towed. Please follow the signs for designated parking areas. The area around Iron Horse Park will be congested. Drivers are asked to slow down and watch out for pedestrians.
