Mayor's May Newsletter

How is everyone’s Spring going?  As temperatures start to warm and things begin to look green, I wanted to take a moment to share a few of the items the city is working on throughout the summer.    This is a busy year, as City Council is deep in the process to develop a new strategic plan that will prioritize our efforts through year 2027.   The timing of this process this year is great, as it aligns with our 2-year budget cycle, so we’ll have the opportunity to set our priorities and then consider proper resourcing of the various projects, plans and initiatives necessary to address them.   As we put together our final strategic priorities, we will share them with the community and encourage feedback on how you think we can best support them.   We appreciate your ideas and input, and you can email or call me or your council member anytime to provide constructive and collaborative feedback.  Our contact information can be found here:  City Council - City of Fountain (fountaincolorado.org)

In addition to working on our strategy, we are also preparing to build a new city website!  We are excited to give our website a new look and feel and are working with the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) to field this new online resource.   The new city website will be different, and we think user friendly, as it will more heavily lean towards performing like a search engine, as opposed to a website that requires multiple clicks on sub-pages to find what you may need.   The new website will also help the city make further progress in providing the appropriate ADA access to those who need it.   We’ll share more information about the new site and when you can expect to see it in the coming months!

Lastly, as we transition into May we are of course always mindful of Memorial Day, and the opportunity to honor and remember those best among us who sacrificed all for our great nation. This year, our local VFW Post 6461will host an event, with the support of our American Legion Post 38, to commemorate the day.   We will be sharing information about the event on our city website, social media, and digital sign boards at our fire stations, so keep an eye out for that and see you there.
